Main & Side Dishes - BBQ - Smoke and Grill
I didn't have any BBQ sauce on hand one time and decided to make my own with ingredients that I had at hand. I first used it on grilled BBQ chicken wings but found that it went well with any grilled or smoked meat. It has always been a hit with my family. This recipe makes about 1/2 cup.
4 Tablespoons ketchup
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 Tablespoon maple syrup
1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon toasted sesame seed oil
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1-2 dashes of Tabasco sauce
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.
I usually taste and add more of whatever is needed.
For a variation once, I tried soy sauce in place of the Worcestershire sauce - also very good!
