South Carolina, Abbeville District Know all men by these presents that we Elizabeth Gillespie, James S. Baskin, Jane Gillespie, Margaret Gillespie all of the State and District aforesaid and John Allison of the State of North Carolina, Wilks County, Maryantoo District, Also Alexander Patterson of the State of Georgia, Elbert County in Consideration of three hundred dollars to us paid by Lowry Gillespie of the District and State aforesaid have granted and bargained and sold and released, and by these presents do grant, Bargain and release unto said Lowry Gillespie all their rights and claim of that tract of land, containing two hundred eighty seven and a half acres, Situated in Franklin County and State of Georgia, lying on Nail's Creek its being a tract of land originally granted to (?David) Daniel Russell in the year one thousand seven hundred eighty nine and conveyed by him to James Gillespie and having such form and shape and marks as are represented by a plat hereunto affixed. Together with all and singular the rights, members, hereditaments and appurtenances to the said premises belong or in any wiar incedendants, or appertaining. To have and to hold all as is singular the premises before mentioned unto the said Lowry Gillespie, his heirs and assigns forever, and we do hereby bind ourselves, our he heirs, executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all our rights, and claims of the said premises unto the said Lowry Gillespie, his heirs and assigns and against ourselves, our heirs and against any person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this thirteenth day of December one thousand eight hundred and in the twenty fourth year of the Independence of the United States of America.

1830 Census Franklin Co shows Lowry Gillespie had 3 sons and 4 daughters still at home. The first 4, three sons and 1 daughter were in other households. He has at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. The sons are found in Census, land and court records. James Lowry Gillespie recorded Malinda's death as the wife of George Patterson. The identity of four other daughters has not been established
