Thomas Hamby died without a will before November 6, 1826 which was the date the court appointed John Holcombe as Administrator. The Administrator's bond was $3000. Thomas Neely, Robert Moore, and Zachery Price were sureties. The Estate inventory was made on December 6, 1826. It reveals that he was a farmer who raised cotton and corn and owned a grist mill. He also owned a negro slave named Milly and land lot 198 in the10th district of Newton County, Georgia. Looking through the papers proves he had two older sons, Lemuel and Isaac Hamby who were appointed gaurdians of their brothers and sisters on January 8,1828.
