Joseph’s grave is in Perry Family Cemetery in Fairfield County, South Carolina near the graves of his mother and father Hugh and Mary Perry.

Epitath on the gravestone reads:

Sacred to the Memory of

who was born Oct 20th 1800 and died Feb 11th 1836
aged 35 years 8 mo & 9 days.

The epitath is interesting. It may be coincidence but the motto associated with the medieval Perry Coat-of-Arms is “Recte agens confido” which means “While acting uprightly I am confident”.
