Epitath on the gravestone reads:

Sacred to the Memory of
Joseph Perry
who was born Oct 20th 1800 and died Feb 11th 1836
aged 35 years 8 mo & 9 days.

The epitath is interesting. It may be coincidence but the motto associated with the medieval Perry Coat-of-Arms is “Recte agens confido” which means “While acting uprightly I am confident”.

It shows Joseph with two sons under the age of 5 years (John Fletcher and Joseph Holmes). The two daughters mentioned in the will of Hugh Perry Sr. were born between 1830 and Joseph’s death in 1836.
