Misc. Notes
William Stoffold, as he became known as, was born in Albury during the year 1625 and was deceased by July 30, 1658 (when his will was approved). He was a Blacksmith by trade as was his brother George. His marriage is not on the records, possibly due to the gap which occurred during his lifetime. His wife, Bridget Potterton was buried in Albury on Oct. 2, 1667 (her parentage is unknown). His will is dated Feb. 26, 1657/8 and was proved in the Prerogative Courts of Canterbury on July 30, 1658 by named executors. It was without the usual religious preamble noted in most wills of that time. Money was left to his daughters, sons and wife (pregnant at the time). He did leave the home, yard and garden to his eldest son George as well as some money to his mother Margaret, if she would leave the home and yard 'quietly'. He mentions his brother George Stoffold and his brother-in-law John Potterton as executors in the will. He signed the will with a mark.
